Some people don’t believe in Global Warming and some do believe it is as a reality. Global warming is such a divisive issue that those who accept it cannot image that others cannot see it. And people who think it is a made up issue and think of conspiracies. Weather global Warming is a real thing or not – there is no doubt that we are over exploiting our Planet beyond its natural ability to normalise its environment. Deforestation, over mining, over use of chemicals in agriculture that is slowly seeping in to our waters, plastic litter that is slowly damaging the ecology, these are issues that are separate from global warming and human induced weather change. Even if we don’t accept deforestation, over mining etc because we live in a big city and cannot see it for ourselves and don’t want to believe anything we don’t see with our eyes. I think that is a very valid argument. But how about the over use of Plastic? How about the disposable plastic Foam food containers and utensils that are single use? How about Plastic Straws, plastic bags, plastic spoons and forms, product packing materials. So much plastic all around us …

We all try to support independent Grocery Stores as much as possible. In today’s corporate world, the hard work and determination of  independent business owners is admirable. But it makes great sense to buy from independent grocery. One of the best advantages is that there is a lot of variety of food products. And there are a lot of locally sourced merchandise from small local producers. The Large corporate chains cannot easily buy from the small local producers. The Local producers don’t have enough resources to reach the large corporations because of various barriers. And the biggest of these barriers is the costing. Large producers can take advantage of the global pricing and lower labour costs in other parts of the globe, govt tax grants etc . Also the corporate managers are not as personally connected with their suppliers and producers as the small independent stores. The Independent Grocery Store owners put a lot of time and effort into each individual product. They personally feel each of the products they sell through their stores.
